Abandoned Mine Land Program

The State of New Mexico’s Abandoned Mine Land Program used Natina Steel to color the wire mesh used on the Lake Valley Mine Safeguard Project. The mesh manufacturer offered to powder coat the mesh but indicated that the color would only last for 5 years before fading. Since Natina contains no color pigments, but instead derives its color through the oxidation process, the color should literally last for decades without fading from sun exposure. So, the AML Program opted to use Natina and they are amazed by how well it matches the surrounding terrain.
